Each project in Projecturf includes a built-in timer for tracking your billable and non-billable hours. When you are working on a project, you can start the timer by going to the Timecard section and clicking the play button on the top right of the navigation bar. You can also pause, restart, and reload the timer as needed.
Once the timer has been started, it will remain running even if you jump between sections and projects. The timer icon will always be shown on the left side of the project tab when you have an active timer running in a project and you can run multiple timers at the same time. The timer will continue running until you pause or reload it, even if you logout of your account.
You can easily add your recorded time to a project by clicking the plus button and choosing Grab From Timer from within the Timecard section.
If you wish to add time to a task or ticket, just do a quick search for your task / ticket when entering your time and select it. Once your time is added, the dollars are automatically calculated for you based on your hourly rate. Hours and dollars entered as billable are tracked against the project budget at the bottom of the Timecard section (this is only viewable by project managers). Project managers can see everyone's timecard entries whereas staff members and clients can only view their own. You can learn more about the time tracking capabilities in the Projecturf support center.
Next to each task in Projecturf, there's a timer icon that is used to input the time spent on a task. After clicking the icon, you can quickly input the hours, date, hourly rate, and mark it billable. Once you record your time, the icon will turn blue and you can view the hours and fees associated with that task by clicking on it. Time can also be recorded in the Global Tasks section which displays tasks across all of your projects. This functionality is available for both the Tasks and Tickets sections. All time recorded will be displayed in the Timecard section of the project as well. You can use the Timecard section or the Hours and Fees report to filter and view the data. Remember, access to Timecard data is based on permissions and therefore only project managers can view someone else's time entries on tasks or tickets. Watch this short video tutorial to learn more:
The Timecard section lists all hours, fees, and expenses for a project. You can view the timecard entries when in a project or across all of your projects by navigating to the Global Timecard section. As a quick and useful tool, you can export this data at any time to a CSV file by clicking on the export icon on the far right of the gray filter bar (as shown here).
Before exporting the data, you can set filters to specify your desired output. You can filter the entries by author, billable or non-billable, the time period, and paid or unpaid items. Once filtered, simply click the export icon and it will begin downloading to your computer as a CSV file based on the filters you set. The exported data will show all information including the notes and name of the project associated with each entry. Exporting timecards is available at the project and global level.
This is very handy if you need the data in excel or wish to import it into another software program such as Quickbooks.
The Global Hours and Fees report was used to display the hours and fees by user. However, based on your feedback, we have just released an updated version of this report that now includes the following options:
These views were added as an additional filter and therefore you can still filter by a specific contact first. The first two options above display a summary by contact or project, whereas the ones which say "expanded" show the summary followed by the break out of the hours and fees for each project by user (as shown below) or the break out of the hours and fees for each user by project.
With these new enhancements, you can quickly see which projects and contacts have the most hours and fees logged and which projects need updating or are not as involved yet. This update was a direct result of feedback received by you. You can submit ideas or vote on existing requests from the suggestion forum.
The Timecard section lists all hours, fees, and expenses entered on a project. This includes unpaid and paid items as well as billable and non-billable fees. In addition, Projecturf offers simple reporting on the unpaid hours and fees that are entered into the Timecard sections. This report displays the billable and total hours and fees for each user and it is nicely formatted to print. The report is available for each project, but is also available as a global report in order for you to see the hours and fees across all your projects. You can easily filter by user and select the time period you want displayed. This is a quick way to see the amounts that need to be paid to each person and how much time your users are logging.
When viewing the report, only project managers can see everyone's timecard entries on a project. Basic users can only see their own entries.
In the Timecard section, you can now add fixed expenses along with individual time entries. These expenses can also be associated with a task or ticket similar to how your time entries are attached to tasks and tickets. This allows you to track and monitor all project expenses in one place and compare these expenses to your project budgets. Just select expense from the drop-down menu under Type to add a fixed expense.
Another enhancement just released is the ability to quickly filter the Timecards by date. This option is available from the global and project Timecard sections. You can easily view costs for a particular month or week and export the data based on the filters you set. To view a specific time period, click the filter option on the gray bar and select the date range.
These features were a direct result of feedback we received on our suggestion forum.

New in Projecturf version 3.0, you can quickly add timecard entries directly from the task or ticket you are working on. To the right of each task description is a timer icon which when clicked, displays a quick add panel for inputting time for that task. The quick add panel will include your default hourly rate along with a time and date field. The timer icon also displays any hours and fees that have been recorded for that task and will turn blue once time has been recorded.
Another benefit of version 3.0 is the ability to search for a task or ticket when adding a new timecard entry from the Timecard section. Use the search field to find what you are looking for and the results will auto-filter and appear in the box below. Simply check off the task or ticket you want to associate your time with and it will link the entry to that task.
These new enhancements provide necessary flexibility and make adding time in your project management application much quicker.
